Note
to parents considering travelling with children
1. Culture
shock
From the first moment
of your arrival in Thailand, the heat and smells will assault you.
The Thai people have different ways of doing things, the food is
new, the cities are usually noisy, personal space is a largely forgotten
concept. People
from Asia often want to touch and play with western children which
could be very distressing for your child. Added
up, this affront on the senses is referred to as culture shock &
can be daunting for us all, but even more so for children.
The best way to handle
the attention and change in culture is to take things slowly. Let
your children adjust slowly to the new sights and sounds. You'll
probably soon discover that your children are more comfortable in
their new surroundings than you are!
2.
Standards of safety and hygiene
Standards of safety and
hygiene are sometimes considerably lower than at home. Remember
that your children may be more prone to sickness than you are.
Please ensure you travel
with your own first aid supplies and any individual medications
your children may require.
