What
is the most popular itinerary for visitors to Khao Sok?
Many
visitors to Khao Sok spend at least a day or night at Chieow Laan
Lake and maybe two to three nights at Khao Sok.
If
you'd like a pre-designed package, take a look at our Tours
& Packages.
Here's
an example itinerary:
Day
1:
Arrival at Chieow Laan Lake. Sightseeing from your boat with your
English speaking guide, en route to one of the floating rafthouses
where you will spend the night. After a delicious lunch, time for
a swim before heading off on a guided jungle trek. Dinner is a mouth
watering selection of local southern Thai specialties.
Day
2:
Early morning wildlife spotting followed by breakfast and some time
for a dip in the emerald green waters of Chieow Laan Lake before
exploring on a guided canoe trip. After lunch, transfer by boat
and car to Khao Sok where you will find your treehouse accommodation
waiting for you in the jungle canopy. Time for some inner tubing
in the Klong Sok River or perhaps a look around the National Park
visitor's centre, before returning for dinner and perhaps a walking
night safari to discover creatures of the night.
Day
3:
A full day jungle trek, visiting some of the many waterfalls Khao
Sok is famous for. Maybe you'll spot an Asiatic black bear, gibbon
or some hornbills along your way. Or maybe you prefer to take it
easy today, with a Thai massage and a gentle canoe trip down the
Klong Sok River.
Day
4: Jungle
elephant trekking after breakfast then return just in time for lunch,
before heading off on an inner tubing adventure. Maybe you'll need
another massage this evening after so much activity!
Day
5:
Depart Khao Sok for one of the many other great locations Thailand
is famous for.

Will
I see tigers if I visit Khao Sok?
There
are still wild tigers living in Khao Sok National Park, however,
they are very private creatures who tend to stay well away from
the main walking trails in the park. So, in short, you probably
will not see wild tigers during your visit to Khao Sok, but you
still have a good chance of seeing a myriad of other animals including
gibbons, macaque & langor monkeys, civet cat, tapir, wild bear,
elephant and hornbill.

Why
is Chieow Laan Lake also known by the name 'Rachabrappha'?
The
Thais know the lake as both Chieow Laan and Rachabrappha. You will
also find it listed in guidebooks under both names (with various
spelling variations for each).
Before
the building of the dam in 1982, the lake was called Chieow Laan.
With the construction of the Rachabrappha Dam and the subsequent
expansion of the lake, it was re-named to reflect the name of the
newly constructed dam.

What
do I need to bring if I travel with Limestone Lake Rainforest Tours?
If
you plan to do any jungle trekking in Khao Sok or at Chieow Laan
Lake, make sure you bring a good pair of walking shoes with good
grip on the soles. Some people prefer trekking boots, others trekking
sandals - the choice is yours - but please ensure you pack at least
one of these types of shoewear.
For
everyday wear, flip flops or sandals will be all you need. It is
polite to remove your shoes before entering Thai houses or accommodation,
so shoes which are easy to remove are your best option.
In

first aid kit.
After

Is
it safe to travel with children to Thailand?
Yes.
Thailand is a very safe country for children to travel in as long
as you exercise the normal amount of caution you would at home or
while travelling in any other country.
The
Thai people adore children and will be happy to be impromptu nannies
and playmates for your child, while you have a massage or soak up
the sun.

Are
Limestone Lake Rainforest Tours suitable for children?
We
can accommodate children on most of our trips. We may need to modify
parts of the itinerary to suit younger travellers, such as making
a jungle trek shorter and easier (or substituting an alternative
activity), however, we will do our best to make sure all members
of your family have an enjoyable holiday with appropriate activities
for all.
We
also offer specific family oriented tours, which are more suitable
for families with young children.
If
you have particular concerns or questions regarding our tours and
their suitability for your children, please contact
us with your enquiry.

Malaria
is a risk throughout most of Asia and Khao Sok is no exception.
However, you can greatly reduce the risk of malaria infection by

wear light coloured, long sleeved clothing, spray with insect repellent,
burn mosquito coils or sleep inside a mosquito net. Mosquito nets
are provided at all destinations on our tours.
